The large-tube spur flower ( Centranthus macrosiphon ) is a species of the genus of spur flowers ( Centranthus ) in the subfamily of valerian plants (Valerianoideae).
features
The Großröhrige Spornblume is an annual plant that reaches heights of 10 to 60 centimeters. The corolla tube is usually 6 to 8, rarely 4 to 10 millimeters long. The spur is about 1 to 1.5 millimeters long. It reaches to the bottom of the corolla tube.
The flowering period extends from June to August.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.
Occurrence
The large-tube spurflower occurs in Morocco, Algeria, southern and southeastern Spain and Italy on rock corridors and on wasteland at altitudes of 0 to 300 meters.
use
The large-tube spurflower is rarely used as an ornamental plant for summer flower beds. It has been in culture at least since 1850. There are several varieties.
