The megalithic graves at Petrol were three megalithic graves from the Neolithic Funnel Beaker Culture at Petrol , a district of Wedendorfersee in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). The graves were recorded in 1804 by Friedrich Wilhelm Zinck in a watercolor drawing, two graves were examined by him in 1806. The facilities were later completely destroyed.

location

description

Grave 1

Grave 1 had a burial chamber 16 feet (about 4.8 m) long and 8 feet (2.4 m) wide. It had several large capstones and should therefore be referred to as large dolmen . The orientation of the chamber is not recorded. Burial remains or grave goods were not found.

Grave 2

Grave 2 had a barren bed of unknown orientation, 120 feet long and 16 feet wide. It contained "large stone boxes and capstones". This probably meant several ancient dolms. The only finds were some ceramic shards.

Grave 3

Grave 3 was not examined. It can only be seen in the background of Zinck's watercolor. It was evidently a large dolmen.
