Great stone graves near Buggenhagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The megalithic graves near Buggenhagen were several megalithic graves of unknown numbers from the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Buggenhagen in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). According to a report by Joachim von Wedel, they were destroyed by stonemasons in 1594 . Von Wedel does not state how many graves there were in Buggenhagen, only that they should have been numerous. There is also no information about the orientation, dimensions and shape of the graves. When a grave was uncovered, several human skeletons were discovered in a burial chamber about 11 to 15 feet (3.5-4.7 m) long, with ceramic vessels between them. According to the workers, the uncovering of a second grave is said to have been haunted .
