Great stone graves near Heeßel
The megalithic graves near Heeßel were several megalithic graves of unknown numbers from the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Heeßel , a town in Hemmoor in the district of Cuxhaven ( Lower Saxony ). They were destroyed in the 19th century. The graves were in the Wedelsforth district . To the north were the megalithic graves near Westersode , to the northeast the megalithic graves near Warstade . According to Johann Karl Wächter , around 1841 only scattered stones were left of the grounds near Heeßel, which no longer allowed any conclusions to be drawn about the number and original appearance of the graves. In the following years these residues were also completely removed.
