Large stone graves near Lohne
The megalithic graves near Lohne (also called megalithic graves near Schepsdorf-Lohne , Scheppsteine or Schloopsteine ) were three megalithic tombs of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Lohne , a district of Wietmarschen in the Grafschaft Bentheim district ( Lower Saxony ). They were destroyed in the 19th century.
location
The graves were on the way from Lingen to Wietmarschen east of the Lohner Mühle in a valley. Until 1974, Lohne was part of the community of Schepsdorf-Lohne , which is why Ernst Sprockhoff's systems are run under this place name.
description
The three graves were in an east-west running row about 50 paces (approx. 40 m) apart. According to Johann Karl Wächter , most of the capstones had been blown up a few years before 1840. In the following years the remaining stones were removed and used as building material in the place. No details are available about the orientation, dimensions and type of grave of the facilities.
