The Stone Key ( Sprockhoff No. 852) is an east-west-oriented, approximately 4.9 meters long remainder of a trapezoidal (from 2.0 to 1.4 meters wide) stone chamber, without the remains of a border or a hill. The megalithic facility is located 1.3 kilometers south of Apeldorn (north of Meppen ) in Emsland in Lower Saxony, immediately east of the road to Meppen.

The center of the chamber is disturbed. Of the original three capstones, only the outer ones have been preserved in situ . The system has eight bearing stones. Seven are in situ, one is offset. Remains of the Ganges, which the complex is a typical tunnel grave of the funnel cup culture (TBK), originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. Chr., Identifies, are two stones in front of the southern long side. Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development. In 1864 JH Müller found shattered pottery during a superficial examination of the chamber .
According to Claudia Liebers, the name “stone key” can be explained from popular belief. It was believed that a key could be used to get babies out of stones.
