The large stone grave Bakenhus is a megalithic burial complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture (TBK) near the Großenkneter district of Bakenhus in the Lower Saxony district of Oldenburg . It bears the Sprockhoff number 932.

description

The grave is located about 500 meters northeast of Bakenhus, immediately south of the Bakenhuser Esch road, which branches off from the K239 to the east, in a wooded area. It is oriented northeast-southwest and extends over a length of 25 meters in a long, flat hill. The grave was placed under protection in 1875 and described for the first time in 1896. At that time it was almost completely covered with earth, and when Ernst Sprockhoff took his picture in 1930 he could only make out a few cap stones and some wall stones exposed on the outside.

A large area was only exposed in 2005, when the community archivist Dirk Faß and a few young people cleared the grave of bushes and trees. In the process, larger amounts of earth were removed from the surface, which was not agreed with the State Office for Monument Preservation . This carried out a measurement and investigation in 2007. This resulted in a 23 meter long, boat-shaped burial chamber, of which the supporting stones on the narrow sides, some of the northern long side and some cap stones have been preserved. Most of the latter were deliberately destroyed, and some holes for explosive charges can be seen. The position of the entrance to the burial chamber could not be determined. Based on the found pottery, the origin of the tomb, unique in its boat shape, could be traced back to around 3200 to 2950 BC. To be dated.
