Ute Bartelt

Ute Bartelt (* around 1975 ) is a German archaeologist for prehistory and early history . As a municipal archaeologist in Lower Saxony , she is responsible for the preservation of historical monuments for the Hanover region .

Career

Ute Bartelt grew up in Wilhelmshaven , where she attended elementary school. She finished school in 1994 with the Abitur at the Luisenschule Essen . She studied prehistory and early history , classical archeology and ancient history at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

After completing her studies, she worked in museum education at the LWL Museum for Archeology in Herne . At the Lower Saxony State Office for Monument Preservation in Hanover , she was a scientific trainee in the archeology department. There she was part of the Hanover regional team and took on tasks in the register of monuments, planning and public relations; she was also involved in excavations in the Hanover region and in Hildesheim . In Hildesheim she was a city archaeologist from 2008 to 2018.

Bartelt was involved in setting up a new permanent exhibition in the State Museum for Prehistory (Halle) . From there she headed an excavation at the Bückethaler Landwehr . She is considered a specialist in large stone graves . In 2008 she took on the role of local archaeologist in Hildesheim and for the Hanover region. In the Hanover region she was responsible for archaeological investigations on the ring wall on Gehrdener Berg , the Klein-Hemmingen desert , the Roman marching camp of Wilkenburg and the Weidemannschen Hof .
