Archeology in Germany ( AiD ) is a popular scientific journal published by Konrad Theiss Verlag , an imprint of the Scientific Book Society in Darmstadt.

description

The magazine has been published since 1984, initially quarterly, now bimonthly. It is currently being edited by Jürgen Kunow , Egon Schallmayer , C. Sebastian Sommer , Dirk Krausse and Regina Smolnik for the Association of Regional Archaeologists in the Federal Republic of Germany and Dieter Planck for the publishing house. The advisory board currently consists of Claus von Carnap-Bornheim , Nicholas Conard , Heinz Günter Horn , Dieter Kapff , Matthias Knaut , Friedrich Lüth , Harald Meller , Carola Metzner-Nebelsick and Matthias Wemhoff . The editor in charge is André Wais from the publishing office Wais & Partner, where the publication is edited and produced.

Archeology in Germany - like the ancient world - addresses itself to a readership interested in popular science. In addition to the current magazine, two special issues appear annually, both as a hardcover version for the book trade and as a cheaper softcover version for subscribers to the magazine. The single issue comprises 84 pages each with numerous, usually colored illustrations.

The main aim of the AiD is to present prehistory and early history, including Roman provincial archeology and archeology of the Middle Ages and modern times, with a focus on Germany. The magazine is currently unique in Germany in this area.
