Regina Smolnik

Regina Smolnik is a German prehistoric expert and has been a state archaeologist for the Free State of Saxony since 2009 .

Life

Smolnik studied prehistory and early history as well as ethnology and art history at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Aix-en-Provence . In Marburg, she was in 1994 with a dissertation on Ceramics in the prehistoric settlement on Burgstallkogel at Kleinklein doctorate .

In Brandenburg , Smolnik was involved in setting up the Brandenburg State Archaeological Museum, which opened in November 2008 in the Paulikloster in Brandenburg an der Havel . Since May 1, 2009, she has been the head of the State Office for Archeology in Saxony, succeeding Thomas Westphalen , who was previously acting head of it . During her term of office, the State Museum for Archeology Chemnitz opened in 2014 . At the same time, Smolnik is one of the three Saxon representatives in the Association of State Archaeologists .
