Great stone grave Groß Molzahn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Groß Molzahn was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Groß Molzahn in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It was destroyed in the autumn of 1834 for the extraction of building material and examined in the process. Its exact location is not known. It was located on a hill and had a north-south oriented burial chamber with a length of 10 feet (about 3 m), a width of 6 feet (about 1.8 m) and a height of 5 feet (about 1, 5 m). It consisted of ten large stones, one of which had cracked. Cap stones were no longer there. The spaces between the wall stones were clad with dry masonry. According to the description, it could have been a large dolmen , but Ewald Schuldt led the facility as a large stone grave of an indefinite type. A chamber plaster was not found, only a layer of sand. The only find was a bone. Whether it was a human or animal bone is unclear.
