The Kaltenhof large stone grave is a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Kaltenhof , a district of Dänischenhagen in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . It bears the Sprockhoff number 134.
location
The grave is located northwest of Kaltenhof, near the municipality border with Schwedeneck in a field. There are numerous other large stone graves in the vicinity : 500 m north-northwest are the large stone graves at Birkenmoor and 2.3 km east the large stone grave Borghorsterhütten .
description
The system has a round mound with a diameter of 13 m. The burial chamber is an east-west oriented large dolmen with an oval floor plan. The length is about 3 m and the width 1.5 m. There are three wall stones on the northern and two on the southern long side and a small end stone on the western narrow side. The western wall stone on the south side and one or two stones on the east side are missing. Of the two capstones, only the eastern one is completely preserved and still rests on the wall stones. It has a length of 2.3 m, a width of 2 m and a thickness of 0.6 m. Only half of the western capstone remains, which is inside the chamber.
