Great stone grave Recknitz

The Recknitz large stone grave was a megalithic burial complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Recknitz , a district of Plaaz in the Rostock district ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It was examined by Robert Beltz in 1903 and later completely destroyed.

The exact location of the grave is not known. The next preserved grave is the large stone grave Plaaz a few kilometers to the east .

description

The system was already largely destroyed when Beltz 'investigation. It stood on a hill and had a north-west-south-east oriented burial chamber. The wall and cap stones were all removed. Originally it was a large dolmen with three cap stones. Only the pavement was left 1.6 m long and 0.4 m wide. It consisted of a layer of clay on which annealed flint was applied. The paved area was surrounded by small, erect stone slabs. Some bone fragments were still preserved from the funerals. Ceramic shards were found among additions that belonged to one decorated and several undecorated vessels.
