The Großsteingrab Swochowo (also called Großsteingrab Schwochow ) was a megalithic burial complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Swochowo ( German Schwochow ), a district of Gmina Bielice (German Beelitz ) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . However, it was in what is now the municipality of Gmina Gryfino . The grave was destroyed in the 19th century.

location

According to a report from 1826, the grave was about 1000 paces (approx. 750 m) "below" (east?) Of Dołgie (German Langenhagen ), "at the end of the avenue that leads to Schwochow".

description

The complex had a mound that was only preserved in remains. Inside was an east-west oriented burial chamber with a length of 10 paces (approx. 7.5 m) and a width between 4 and 5 paces (approx. 3–3.8 m). According to a sketch, the chamber originally had five pairs of wall stones on the long sides and should therefore be classified as a large dolmen or passage grave. Between the wall stones there were five more stones, which were the cap stones and / or the end stones on the narrow sides. The largest stones (arguably the capstones) were about 8 feet long and a few feet high and wide.
