Groppello di Santo Stefano

Groppello di Santo Stefano is a red wine variety . It is an autochthonous variety from northern Italy. Its cultivation is recommended in the provinces of Brescia and Massa-Carrara . In the 1990s, 28 hectares of planted vineyards were raised.

The late-ripening variety is vigorous and high-yielding. It produces ruby ​​red wines with a medium alcohol content and a slight acidity . However, the red wines usually lack structure. In Trentino, wine finds its way into the Val di Non, but is only called Groppello for short or Groppello della Val di Non.

In addition to the Groppello di Santo Stefano, there are also the Groppello Bianco , Groppello di Mocasina and Groppello Gentile grape varieties .
