The Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB) was an institute for electroacoustic music in the French city ​​of Bourges . It was founded in 1970 under the name Groupe de musique expérimentale de Bourges (GMEB).

The GMEB was founded in September 1970 by the French composers Christian Clozier and Françoise Barrière in the Palace of Culture in Bourges. In 1974 the movement made itself organizationally independent and from then on was supported by the Direction régionale des Affaires culturelles . As a result, the facility developed into one of the world's most respected studios for electroacoustic music . Christian Clozier developed musical pedagogical approaches in Bourges and built the electronic instrument Gmebogosse (1973–1998), which is known today under the name Cybersongosse . Clozier and Barrière host a music festival and a competition for electroacoustic music.

In 1995 the Groupe de musique expérimentale de Bourges was renamed Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB). In 1997 the institution received the Center national de création musicale quality seal . In June 2011, the French Ministry of Culture ordered the closure.

In Bourges were u. a.
