The Bannhardt mine was an iron ore mine near Waldgirmes (municipality of Lahnau ) in the Lahn-Dill district . The pit was north of Waldgirmes in a forest district , which still today the name spell - hardt carries.

history

On May 19, 1851, the mine on Eisenstein was lent to the hut owner "JCMüller zum Lauffacher Werk bei Aschaffenburg". Several changes of ownership followed. On January 11, 1871, the mine was transferred to Schulz & Wehrenbold zur Justushütte near Gladenbach, on November 12, 1887 to Johann Wehrenbold, and on March 29, 1893 to Hengstenberg & Comp. From Ruhrort, on March 29, 1935 to the Königsberg district union and since 1953 it has belonged to the Mannesmann company.

From 1851 ore was sporadically mined on the 58,649 square fathoms (approx. 190,000 m²). In 1856 a tunnel was built. From the end of 1870 until the turn of the 20th century there was a lot of activity, and a shaft was built in 1872.

The small ore deposit with a thickness of only 0.5–1.25 meters was severely delimited by scarf stone and lime, which prevented sustainable mining.
