The Habsburg mine is a former iron mine in the Bensberg ore district in Bergisch Gladbach . The site belongs to the Gronau district . On the basis of an application for mutation dated February 23, 1856 under the name Rudolph, the award document with the name Habsburg auf Eisenstein was issued on October 5, 1856 . In the middle of the Gierather Wald nature reserve , the Habsburg mining area extended. Where Hasselstraße is no longer asphalted and turns into the Refrath Forest as a hiking trail in an easterly direction, after a short time there is a crossing with the hiking trail that leads from the kick house to Strunden. Cross this intersection in an easterly direction and continue straight ahead for about 130 m. About 100 m in a northerly direction into the forest one stands at the place where the Habsburg mine was found. With a little imagination, you can see undulating traces as the legacy of excavation work in the area, which stretch as far as the Hasselbach and partly beyond the Deutz Weiher. Nothing further is known about the operating activities.
