The Hansa mine is a disused lignite mine in Tröbitz in southern Brandenburg .

history

The first mining rights on the area of the later Hansa mine in Tröbitz were acquired in 1869/70 by a Mr. Schwabach at a price of 2 Reichsmark / t.

At the turn of the century, Senftenberger Kohlenwerke AG, Berlin, took over these rights through the then representative Carl Albert Schulz, opened the opencast mine and had the briquette factory built. This company also included the Elisabeth-Glück mines near Senftenberg and the Ida mine near Doberlug .

When Senftenberger Kohlenwerke AG went bankrupt in 1906, the Wilhelm Werhahn family , Neuss , took over the mine, including the briquette factory , through the manager Richard Geistmeier ( Kirchhain ), and was able to expand it further with great personal commitment.

This personal commitment of the Werhahn family for the economic development of the company and the entire region was confirmed in 1911 by a visit from the last Saxon king, Friedrich August III. , appreciated. The king was greeted by Peter Werhahn , brother of the industrialist Wilhelm Werhahn , in the Hansa mine in Tröbitz. From 1924, the Hansa mine was managed by Wilhelm Cornelius Werhahn .

The oldest available performance figures come from 1922, when 160,000 tons of briquette were produced. After the name of the company changed several times over the years under the same owner, the Hansa mine was placed under trusteeship in August 1946, on January 1, 1947 to the Brandenburg Mining, State-owned companies, Senftenberg headquarters and on July 1, 1948 to the state-owned companies, District administration Mückenberg , handed over.

The briquette factory stopped production at Pentecost in 1952; the lignite mine was finally closed in 1961.
