The Elsterland Office is an office established in 1992 in the Elbe-Elster district of the State of Brandenburg , in which nine municipalities in the then Finsterwalde district were initially combined into an administrative association. The official seat is the community of Schönborn . Due to the amalgamation of municipalities, the office currently has five municipalities.

Geographical location

The Elsterland office is located in the middle of the Elbe-Elster district. It borders in the north on the unofficial city of Doberlug-Kirchhain , in the east with the unofficial city Finsterwalde , in the south with the office Plessa and the unofficial city Bad Liebenwerda and in the west with the city Uebigau-Wahrenbrück .

history

The Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the creation of the Elsterland Office on July 13, 1992. July 21, 1992 was set as the date of establishment of the office. The office is located in the municipality of Schönborn and initially consisted of nine municipalities in what was then the Finsterwalde district :

  5. Rückersdorf
  6. Schadewitz
  7. Schilda
  8. Schönborn
  9. Trobitz

The municipality of Eichholz-Drößig was assigned to the office on August 28, 1992 by order of the Brandenburg Interior Minister. On September 27, 1998, the communities Schönborn, Lindena, Gruhno and Schadewitz merged to form the new community Schönborn.

On December 31, 2001, the communities of Oppelhain and Rückersdorf merged to form the new community of Rückersdorf. The communities Eichholz-Drößig and Fischwasser formed the new community Heideland on December 31, 2001.
