Location of Eichholz in Brandenburg

Eichholz ( Dubowc or Dubojc in Lower Sorbian ) is a district of the municipality of Heideland in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . The village, south-west of Finsterwalde on the northern edge of the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature park , has around 200 inhabitants.

history

The place originally belonged to the Dobrilugk Monastery and was first mentioned in a document in 1234.

On May 19, 1974, Eichholz merged with neighboring Drößig to form the Eichholz-Drößig municipality , which merged with Fischwasser on December 31, 2001 to form the Heideland municipality.

Culture and sights

Eichholz Church

The protestant church in Eichholz is a listed building. The staggered granite block structure was built in the core in the second half of the 13th century and its interior was redesigned in 1906. The altarpiece is from the beginning of the 18th century.

There is also a war memorial for villagers who died in the First World War .
