Around 1110 one of the St. The chapel dedicated to Maria Magdalena was built and expanded into a late Gothic church at the end of the 15th century, of which the central nave with its ribbed vault, the octagonal baptismal font made of red marble and the Madonna still remain. In 1693 the church received the altarpiece, which had been in the old collegiate church in Garsten until then , which shows the Lamentation of Christ and is surrounded by a richly carved frame; The two angels attached to the walls were also originally part of this frame. The pulpit and the canteen of the high altar are made of red marble from the same year . In 1768 the church tower got its baroque appearance with an onion helmet, in 1769 an oratorio was added above the sacristy. In 1913/14 a music choir was drawn in and two side aisles were added to the central nave by means of pointed arch openings. After an interior restoration in 1960, which also included the halo on the statue of the Madonna and in which the colored windows were installed, another extension took place in 1981, in which the transepts were widened and the sacristy in the south was incorporated into the interior of the church. The church square was renovated in 1999, in 2004 the tower beams, helmets, clocks and crosses were restored on the church tower, and the facade was repainted.
