Gruber Prize
The international Gruber Prizes are awarded annually by the Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation in three areas:
- Gruber Prize for Cosmology since 2000
- Gruber Prize for Genetics since 2001
- Gruber Prize for Neuroscience since 2004
Two prizes were last awarded in 2011, then the award was discontinued:
- Gruber Justice Prize since 2001
- Gruber Prize for Women's Rights since 2003
The prizes are awarded to prominent natural and social scientists and lawyers. The prize includes a gold medal and half a million US dollars each.
The foundation of the investment manager Peter Gruber (1929–2014), a Jewish refugee from Hungary, is based on Saint Thomas , part of the American Virgin Islands .
