The elementary school Alt-Böckingen (until the 2013 school year, Reinöhlschule elementary school Böckingen , formerly Weststrasse school or Hindenburg school) in the Heilbronn district of Böckingen has been a pure elementary school since 1968 after several structural changes . The building, built in 1899/1900 and expanded in 1906, is a listed building .
history
In the late 19th century, Böckingen experienced strong population growth as many foreigners moved to find work in nearby Heilbronn. Accordingly, the number of pupils rose sharply and the Friedenstrasse School , built in 1878, was soon no longer sufficient. In the years 1899/1900, under Mayor Karl Rein , the so-called Weststrasse School was built on what was then Weststrasse, today's Ludwigsburger Strasse, as the second school building in Böckingen according to plans by the chief architect Ecker and the master builder August Mogler . The school building cost 115,000 Reichsmarks (around 800,000 euros). At that time the school building had twelve classrooms. As early as 1906, the school had to be expanded to include a further six classrooms.
The West Street School was initially mainly a boys 'school, as most of the girls' classes stayed in the Peace Street School for the time being. Eduard Bader , who later became an honorary citizen of Böckingen, was also the rector of the Weststrasse School from 1915 to 1924.
The school was called the Hindenburg School from 1933 to 1945 , and after 1945 the school was called Weststrasse School again . In 1952 the school was named after Friedrich Reinöhl, who was director of the former Heilbronn teachers' college from 1912 to 1919 and later president of the ministerial department for primary schools in Württemberg. On September 15, 1956, the new gym of the Reinöhlschule was inaugurated. In 1960 the school was converted for around 490,000 DM (around 1,140,000 euros). In 1963 the school was heavily overloaded, so that numerous students from Böckingen-Süd had to attend the Grünewald School in northern Böckingen , which was also overloaded as a result. As a remedy, it was decided in 1964 to build the Fritz Ulrich School in Längelter . In 1968 the Reinöhlschule was converted into a primary school. In 1982 the proportion of foreigners in the school was 53%.
Following a resolution by the Heilbronn City Council in November 2012, the school was renamed the Alt-Böckingen Primary School from the 2013/2014 school year . The reason for this was that the previous namesake of the school, Friedrich Reinöhl, was an advocate of racial hygiene and could therefore no longer be recognized as a role model after whom a school should be named.
