Karl Christian Rein (born January 30, 1853 in Böckingen ; † November 24, 1913 ) was mayor in Böckingen and was relieved of his office in 1903.

Life

He was the son of a shoemaker and after attending school in Heilbronn he embarked on an administrative career. As mayor of Böckingen, he headed the place in a difficult time, which was characterized by a large population growth and at the same time the decline of the community finances. As early as 1892 he tried to get financial help from Heilbronn, where most of the Böckingen residents worked, and raised the question of Böckingen's integration into Heilbronn. In addition, in 1891 he transformed the compulsory fire department headed by August Mogler into the voluntary fire department . During his term of office around 1900 there were many other things that were important for the development of Böckingen, such as the chaussing and chandeliering of the streets, the introduction of street lighting with gas in 1896, the construction of the West Street School in 1899/1900 and the Böckingen waterworks in 1899. In 1903 it came to pass Corruption allegations against Rein, which resulted in reports at the Heilbronn Oberamt and the district government. Rein was taken into custody, and on July 6, 1903, the mayor's office was transferred to the official administrator Adolf Alter . During the trial before the second criminal chamber of the Heilbronn Regional Court , Rein applied for his retirement for health reasons, which was granted on December 14, 1903 with his removal from office. The criminal proceedings against him were discontinued on August 12, 1904, after all allegations against him had been proven to be null and void.

Purely was Protestant, but obviously not religious, as the Böckingen parish report from 1903 reports about him: "visits church very rarely and has not attended communion for 10 years."
