The primary school Falkstraße is a primary school in the East Westphalian city of Herford in North Rhine-Westphalia .
location
The school is located at Falkstraße 10 on the edge of Herford city center in the old town of Feldmark . The name of the school and the street of the same name is the Prussian Minister of Culture Adalbert Falk .
history
In June 1893, the school was as Old Town Feldmark school I founded. With the first construction phase, six classrooms were available. After the inauguration of the new building in January 1912, there were 14 classrooms. In 1951, 1006 students were taught. Five of these classes were relocated to Elverdisser Strasse. From August 1, 1968, the community school or elementary school became a primary school and handed over the older students from the fifth grade to the Friedenstalschule. The school on Elverdisser Strasse became independent. In 1985 the school kindergarten (pre-school) was established. Open all-day operation opened in 2004. The cooperation partner was the adult education center in the Herford district . The new sports hall was inaugurated in 2005. The school celebrated on October 5, 2018 its 125th anniversary with an open day .
Structure and special features
The primary school in Falkstrasse is a three-class, open, all-day primary school that was attended by 254 children in 2018.
70% of the children take full-day care and 11% of the children take care of the extra hours from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In year 1 there are two full-day classes and in the other years there are one full-day class and one or two parallel classes with children who attend all-day or extra-hours care. In addition, an international preparatory class (IVK) with currently 16 children is offered.
Furthermore, a school social worker is available to support the staff in their work with children and parents who have little or no knowledge of German and / or who have so far shown little interest in school.
