Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores SA ( German group Aval shares and securities ) based in Bogotá is the largest financial conglomerate in Colombia . Grupo Aval is committed to providing banking and investment business. The company was founded on January 7, 1994 by Luis Carlos Sarmiento .
Business activity
The Colombian group includes four banks: Banco de Bogotá , Banco de Occidente , Banco Popular and Banco AV Villas . Together they are market leaders in the banking business in the Aval Group and also dominant in investment banking with Corficolombiana . The group also sets the tone for the privately run pension and unemployment funds through Porvenir . With Grupo BAC Credomatic in Nicaragua , Grupo Aval is also the largest and most profitable regional financial group in Central America .
Grupo Aval offers banking and investment business and with the Banco de Bogotá a universal bank with national coverage, as well as the Banco de Occidente with a presence in the southwestern region of Colombia. The Banco Popular segment processes payroll loans and provides financial solutions to government agencies across the country. Banco Comercial AV Villas focuses on consumer and mortgage businesses that serve their customers via a national service point network and a mobile banking platform.
The Aval Group has over 14 million customers. As of December 31, 2015, the company operated a network of 1,433 branches and 3,808 ATMs in Colombia and 352 branches and 1,815 ATMs in Central America .
