Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo (born January 27, 1933 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian building contractor , banker and president of the Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo (OLCSA), the largest group of companies in Colombia, based in Bogotá. The conglomerate includes companies in the energy and gas , print media , hotel , agro- industry , industry and mining , infrastructure , construction and finance sectors . Sarmiento is considered to be the second richest Colombian with a net worth of around US $ 8.08 billion (2020).

Life

Family and youth

Sarmiento is the son of a middle-class family that got by more badly than rightly. Eduardo Sarmiento, his father in the timber business and his mother Georgina, was responsible for the housework and instilled discipline in the family. Sarmiento was extremely ambitious as a young boy, always wanted to be the first in everything. When he was five he could read. At the age of 14 he had his first job at Radio Difusora Nacional.
