life and work

The BRAND group was founded in 1983 by Rudolf Weber, Boris Broschardt and Mathis Esterhazy in Vienna . As part of the cooperation between the founders, various experiments were carried out in the field of furniture objects.

Room installation

In 1984 the system "Raumdevous" ( own spelling "RAUMDEVOUS" ) was published. It is a variable system consisting of unique furniture objects that can be set up in the room depending on the functional needs of the user. By setting connecting lines, an overall spatial sculpture is created in which the furniture functions are only different stations in the resulting network.

Various room installations followed at home and abroad, especially in the private sector. Two pieces were purchased by the Vitra Design Museum .

In 1988 the COSMO system was developed by Boris Broschardt, in 1989 the Record Store / Cafe “Black Market” in Vienna was designed and in 1991 Rudolf Weber designed the bar stool DIANA, which was produced from 1993 by the PLANK company in Auer , South Tyrol .
