The so-called Gschlosser Hube in Tiffen in the municipality of Steindorf am Ossiacher See is the former Tiffen Castle .

The property was sold by Leonhard von Keutschach to the brothers Hans and Barthelmeä Khevenhüller in 1560 . The Gschlosser Hube has been owned by the family since 1728. The castle, described in 1620 as a representative Renaissance building , was largely changed in the Baroque and after a fire in 1931.

The former castle is a two- to three-story quarry stone building with a crooked hip roof , which is connected to a tower-like structure in the north. The fan-like plaster structures on the south and east façades and the wide plastering area of ​​the northwest tower window date from the 16th century. The murals of St. Florian , a Madonna of Mercy and a male saint above the portal were painted in the popular style in the 18th century. Inside there are room and vault shapes from the 15th / 16th centuries. Century preserved. In the southeast corner of the second floor there is a remarkable Renaissance beamed ceiling.

In addition to the main building, remains of the former defensive wall , a Gothic box building and a Gothic granary have been preserved. The box building is a two-storey quarry stone building with chamfered window walls with grids from the 15th / 16th centuries. Century. The ground floor used as a stable is a two-aisled hall with three central pillars and a mighty barrel vault with stitch caps. In the Speicherbau, a two-story quarry stone building from the 15th and 16th centuries. Century with a crooked hip roof, numerous ancient spoils are walled in.
