The gta Verlag is a Swiss publishing house based in Zurich . The academic publishing house is part of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture , a teaching and research institute in the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich .

Since 1968, initially at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture and from 1985 onwards by gta Verlag, more than 350 books have been published on the subjects of architectural history , architecture in theory and practice, monument preservation , landscape architecture as well as urban development and spatial planning . The focus of the publishing activities is the mapping of the research and teaching carried out at the institute gta as well as at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich . With publications that are aimed equally at an international specialist audience and interested laypeople, the publisher aims to make this content generally accessible and to anchor it in society.

Series and individual publications

The series Documents on Modern Swiss Architecture - Monographs on Swiss architects, urban planners, spatial planners, landscape architects, and groups of architects is published in collaboration with the gta archive .

In the Architectural Knowledge series , outstanding dissertations from the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich are published in a form that appeals not only to specialists, but also to a broader, professionally interested audience.

The new series of the gta publishing house, gta papers , serves the timely publication of selected researches or conference contributions that have been developed at the institute gta.

Gta Verlag also oversees and distributes various series published by the Architecture Department at ETH Zurich or other institutions: Pamphlet , trans , BSA research grant . Numerous publications appear independently of a series in a format adapted to the respective topic.
