Guðjón Arnar Kristjánsson

Guðjón Arnar Kristjánsson (born July 5, 1944 in Ísafjörður ; † March 17, 2018 ) was an Icelandic politician . He was chairman of the Liberal Party of Iceland (Frjálslyndi flokkurinn) from 2003 to 2009.

Guðjón A. Kristjánsson has worked in the Icelandic fishery since 1959, first as a seaman , machinist and ship's cook , from 1965 as helmsman and from 1967 to 1997 as captain . From 1983 to 1999 he was chairman of the Icelandic Sailors and Fishermen's Association ( Farmanna- og fiskimannasamband Íslands ). He was also an active member of the Independence Party .

In 1999 he joined the Liberal Party of Iceland (Icelandic Frjálslyndi flokkurinn ), whose founder Sverrir Hermannsson had previously also belonged to the Independence Party. From 1999 to 2009 Guðjón was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing . From 2003 to 2009 he was also chairman of his party.
