Gudula Demmelhuber

Gudula Demmelhuber , born in the 20th century, is a German goalball player and gold medalist at the 1996 Paralympic Summer Games in Atlanta .

Career

Gudula Demmelhuber is severely visually impaired . Despite this handicap, she did not want to do without intense sporting activity. Since she wanted to do sport in the company of other visually impaired people, she chose goalball as a sport. Because of her excellent performance, she was appointed to the German national goalball team. With the national team she took part in the 1996 Paralympic Summer Games in Atlanta. With her, the German goalball team reached the final, in which she met the Finnish team. The German team in the line-up Gudula Demmelhuber, Martina Bethke , Edda Ewert , Cornelia Dietz , Christine Krause and Christel Bettinger defeated Finland in this final and became Olympic champion and gold medalist .

For this success, she and the German women's goalball team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by the Federal President .
