The Guibei Shan ( Chinese 龟背 山 , Pinyin Guībèi Shān - " Turtleback Mountain ") is a flat mountain in the southern mountains of the Fildes Peninsula of King George Island , the largest of the South Shetland Islands . The mountain, shaped like a footprint, rises in the very south of the peninsula, north of an arm of the Fildes Strait called Sānmén Xiá ( Chinese 三门峡 - "Three-Gate Gorge" ⊙ ) and south of a mountain called "Huangshi Shan" (possibly with the Huángshí Pō ( Chinese 黄石 坡 - "yellow stone hang " ⊙ ) identical).
The name, first given by a Chinese geologist , was confirmed in 1986 when analyzing aerial photographs .
