Guido Battelli

Guido Battelli (born September 24, 1869 in Sarzana , La Spezia province , † April 13, 1955 in Florence ) was an Italian writer.

He first studied law in Parma and Bologna, then philosophy at the University of Florence, and worked as a poet and essayist. From 1930 to 1934 he taught Italian literature at the University of Coimbra . There he met the poet Florbela Espanca , whose works he published after her death. In 1934 he returned to Italy, where he devoted himself to the translation of the work of Florbela Espanca and other Portuguese poets. He mainly published on the art and culture of Portugal, but also wrote numerous articles on Italian artists for the General Lexicon of Fine Artists from Antiquity to the Present .
