Guido Carli

Guido Carli (born March 28, 1914 in Brescia , † April 23, 1993 in Rome ) was an Italian economist and politician .

Life

From 1958 to 1959, Guido Carli was Minister of Commerce and from 1960 to 1975 Governor of the Italian Central Bank ( Banca d'Italia ) . After serving as President of the Italian Industrialists ( Confindustria ) from 1976 to 1980 , he became Minister of the Treasury in 1989. He held this office until 1992.

From 1978 until his death he was President of the Free University for Social Studies ( Libera università internazionale degli studi sociali “Guido Carli” , LUISS ) in Rome, which is named after him today.
