Guido Morini

Guido Morini (* 1959 in Milan ) is an Italian composer, conductor, harpsichordist and organist.

Live and act

From the beginning of his studies, Guido Morini has dealt with early music, in the sense of historical performance practice , the practices of basso continuo and improvisation. In addition to organ, harpsichord and basso continuo, he studied composition.

An intensive concert activity led him early on to work with important musicians of the scene, such as the Ensemble Aurora around Enrico Gatti , of which he was a harpsichordist from 1985 to 2005. From 1991 to 1995 he played keyboard instruments in Jordi Savall's ensembles .

In 1984 Morini founded the ensemble ACCORDONE together with the singer Marco Beasley and the lutenist Stefano Rocco . With Accordone, Morini is a regular guest at major early music festivals such as Styriarte , the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music , the Tokyo Summer Festival, the Festival van Vlaanderen and the Mexico City Festival.

In total, Morini has worked on more than 70 recordings for numerous renowned labels, some of which have received international awards.

Works

His most important works as a composer to date, in which he unites the cultural heritage of the Renaissance and Baroque with the spirit of the 21st century, were his one-act opera Una Odissea for soloists, choir and orchestra, completed in 2002 , based on a libretto by Marco Beasley, the sacred one Factory Vivifice Spiritus Vitae Vis (2005) and the opera Una Iliad , written for his ensemble Accordone, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Hilliard Ensemble , which in 2009 aan Muziekgebouw 't IJ in Amsterdam came to premiere. Also in 2009 his work Solve et Coagula premiered at the Salzburg Festival . The work Passio , based on the Latin Bible text ( Vulgate ) , was premiered in 2012.
