Guido Sacconi

Guido Sacconi (born June 23, 1948 in Udine ) is an Italian politician (left- wing democrat , Partito Democratico since 2007 ) and since 1999 a member of the European Parliament in the Group of the Party of European Socialists .

Life

Sacconi studied philosophy at the University of Florence until 1967 . He was a member of the Provincial Secretariat from 1975 and of the General Secretariat of the FIOM Metalworkers ' Union from 1978 . From 1990 he was general secretary of the Florence Chamber of Labor and until 1992 regional secretary of the CGIL in Tuscany . That year he became regional secretary of the Left Democrats in Tuscany. In 1995 he became a member of the regional parliament of Tuscany, of which he became deputy chairman in 1998. In 1999 Sacconi entered the European Parliament.

In the European Parliament , Sacconi is chairman of the Temporary Committee on Climate Change , a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and an alternate member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development . He is also a member of the Delegation for Relations with the People's Republic of China and Deputy Member of the Delegation for Relations with the States of Southeast Europe. Until 2006 he was the European Parliament's rapporteur for the REACH regulation , a comprehensive revision of European chemicals law .
