Guillaume-Charles Brun

Guillaume-Charles Brun (born May 5, 1825 in Montpellier , Département Hérault , † February 20, 1908 in Paris ) was a French painter.

Life

Brun came from Montpellier , like his colleague Édouard-Antoine Marsal and his teacher Alexandre Cabanel . At the age of 22, Brun went to Paris and was accepted as a student at the École des Beaux-Arts on April 7, 1847 .

On the occasion of the great annual exhibition of the École des Beaux-Arts in autumn 1847, one of Brun's works was awarded a medal. In 1851 he was invited to take part in the annual exhibition of the Salon de Paris . His two works "Portrait de Mme P ..." and "Jeune femme en prière" were well received by the public as well as by critics.

In 1883 Brun was appointed president of the Société des artistes français .
