The bath was first mentioned in a document in 1580 as "Daurenbad". In 1719/20 a new building with a chapel was built, which was restored in 1782 and 1792. In 1848 it was adapted as a military hospital, from 1925 to 1964 it served as a district hospital, today (as of 2009) it is the company headquarters of an asphalt, concrete and gravel works.

The elongated two-storey building with a regular facade structure and a saddle roof with dormer windows has a wide arched portal from 1720 with a coat of arms stone on the south side and a semicircular bay-like annex extending over both storeys. There are also portals and polygonal bay windows on the side gable facades. In the north-facing tower-like wing there is the house chapel dedicated to the Evangelist Johannes, which was converted into a hospital chapel in 1951. According to Johann Jakob Staffler, the fact that the building is similar to a monastery is due to the fact that the builder Jakob Magnus Amman intended to build a Capuchin monastery on this site.

The hall room with a flat ceiling is equipped with stained glass windows and a columned altar. The baroque frescoes with scenes from the legend of the saints by John the Evangelist are by Johann Christof Haas .
