A chapel was first mentioned in a document around 1500 on the hill north of the village. Today's church is shaped by the rebuilding of 1893 in the neo-Romanesque style; the core of the south tower is still Gothic. Inside, the altars, the pulpit and the stations of the cross are also Romanesque and date from the end of the 19th century. The war memorial chapel in the surrounding cemetery was built in 1923.
The chapel in Steig has a bell ridge and a neo-Gothic altar inside.
