The Andelsbuch power plant is a run-of-river power plant of the type discharge power plant from illwerke vkw in the municipality of Andelsbuch in the Bregenzerwald . At the time of its commissioning in 1908, the Andelsbuch power station on the Bregenz River was one of the largest and most modern power stations in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . The power plant currently has an installed capacity of 15.1  MW and generates more than 50.5  GWh of electrical energy annually .

The main building of the power plant, in which the Francis turbines and the five machine sets are located, is a listed building . The water intended for the operation of the power plant is drawn off at a weir system in Bezau , from where it is directed through two 1.6 km long gravity tunnels to the reservoir in Andelsbuch. From this reservoir, which holds 120,000 m³ of water, the water then flows through a 200 m long, two-strand pressure pipeline with a head of 62 m onto the turbines of the power house. The water is then collected in the Ach equalization basin below the power plant building and fed to the Alberschwende power plant via the Lorena tunnel.
