Max Spielmann

Max Spielmann (born October 8, 1906 in Innsbruck ; † November 5, 1984 ibid) was an Austrian painter , glass painter and sculptor .

Life

After attending the Bundesgewerbeschule Innsbruck from 1920 to 1924, Max Spielmann studied from 1926 to 1930 at the State School for Applied Arts in Munich and from 1931 to 1939 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Franz Klemmer . During the Second World War he was employed as a draftsman in a war reporting group in Norway and Russia. From 1945 he lived as a freelance artist in Innsbruck.

Spielmann received orders for wall designs while still a student. After the Second World War he created numerous works in ecclesiastical and profane areas in Tyrol and the entire Alpine region. He had a fondness for fresco and glass painting, together with Fred Hochschwarzer he was the leading glass painter in Tyrol in the post-war period. In addition, he created watercolors , graphics , woodcuts , oil paintings , sgraffiti , ceramic and enamel paintings , mosaics and sculptures. He had exhibitions in Vienna, Graz, Salzburg, Rome and several times in Innsbruck, including an exhibition in 1981 in the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
