Guillaume-François de Martonne

Guillaume-François de Martonne (born May 18, 1791 in Le Havre , † November 13, 1875 in the castle of Vallée-Guyon near Vendôme ) was a French lawyer , bibliographer and Romance scholar .

Life

Martonne was from 1824 to 1849 head of the department for pardons in the French Ministry of Justice. From 1833 to 1853 he was a resident member of the Société des antiquaires de France .

Guillaume-François de Martonne was the father of the historian and Romanist Alfred de Martonne .
