Guillermo Martínez (* 1962 in Bahía Blanca ) is an Argentine writer and mathematician .

After receiving his doctorate as a mathematician, Guillermo Martínez worked for two years as a postdoc at Oxford University . He has lived in Buenos Aires since 1985 .

He published his first book with the short story volume La jungla sin bestias in 1982. In 1989 he received the "Premio Nacional Roberto Arlt" for the short story book Infierno Grande . His best-known book to date is the international bestseller Crímenes imperceptibles (German title: Die Pythagoras-Morde ), published in 2003 , which was awarded the Planeta Prize for Argentina in the same year and was filmed in 2007 as The Oxford Murders with John Hurt and Elijah Wood .
