Guimarei is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Guimarei belongs to the Santo Tirso county in the Porto district . The community had an area of 7.9 km² and 738 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Guimarei and Lamelas were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Lamelas e Guimarei .
