Guinea Pig (film series)

Guinea Pig ( Japanese ギ ニ ー ピ ッ グ , Ginī piggu ) is a series of seven Japanese splatter films with sometimes drastic depictions of violence. While the first films in a row entered the top ten of the video sales charts in Japan, according to US distributor Unearthed Films , the films only became known outside of Japan when actor Charlie Sheen wrote the second part of the series, Flowers of Flesh and Blood , thought it was a real snuff movie and reported its discovery to the FBI . Since then, they have been re-released by Unearthed Films . In the late 1980s , the films were raised again in the media when they were found in the video collection of the Japanese serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki .

Guinea Pig on DVD

The Guinea Pig series was released on DVD in Germany under the Devil Pictures label. There is no other DVD release in Germany so far. The Guinea Pig series was also released on DVD in the US and France. In the Netherlands there were only "Android of Notre Dame" and "Devil Woman Doctor" on DVD and VHS. The Austrian provider XT Video Entertainment produced a Japanese Torture Box with the first two parts and a making of in 2004 and various other releases in 2008, including normal DVD packaging, two different hard boxes and a tin box with the name “Guinea Pig: The Complete Series ”, which contains parts 1–6 and two making-ofs.

The seven parts of the series appeared uncut on the German market in this indexed box. The box is limited to 3000 pieces worldwide and individually numbered. In addition to the eight DVDs, the box also contains a poster of the first part “Devil's Experiment” and a T-shirt with the words “Would you be my…” on the front and “Guinea Pig?” On the back.

Stand in Germany

In Germany, the parts "Devil's Experiment", "Devil Woman Doctor", "Guinea Pig's Greatest Cuts" and "Android of Notre Dame" are confiscated according to §131 StGB due to the glorification of violence. The other parts are indexed on list B due to the indexing of the box.
