Gulch Island (from English gulch 'canyon' ) is an island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of Christiania Islands , it lies northwest of Small Island .
It is recorded for the first time on an Argentine map from 1952. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 because it is characterized by deep bays.
