The Christiania Islands ( French Îles Christiania ) are a group of islands and reef rocks between the islands of Liège Island and Trinity Island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The islands were mapped during the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) under the direction of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . He named it after the Norwegian capital Christiania (now Oslo ), where he received support and equipment for his research trip .
