Gullinborsti
Gullinborsti ( Germanic * Gullinbursti, * Gullinbyrsi, * Gúlimborsti, also Sliðrugtanni) Old Norse " the one with the golden bristles " is the name of the boar of the Germanic god Freyr .
The name Gullinborstis is mentioned in writing by the old Icelandic skald / poet and historian Snorri Sturluson in his works Gylfaginning 48 and Skáldskaparmál 7. According to Germanic mythology, Gullinborsti is Freyr's constant companion and pulls his wagon through the air, over water by day and night. In the dark, its golden bristles give off sparks of fire that illuminate the darkness. Gullinborsti was made by the dwarves Sindri and Brokkr .
The boar also appears as a revered animal in other mythologies.
